I am an MBiol student at the University of Oxford, passionate about empowering students in their education and harnessing our understanding of biology to solve local and global challenges. I am excited to expand my impact in education (SDG4) and get experience in using biology to advance SDGs 2, 3, 13, 14 and 15: Zero Hunger; Good Health and Wellbeing; Climate Action; Life Below Water; and Life on Land.
Over the course of my degree, I have developed a strong interest in Ecology, Conservation, Disease Biology, Agriculture, and Sustainable Development. After completing my Year 2 EcoTech field course and research project, I have become particularly excited about using technology to advance ecological monitoring and solve ecological problems.
During my internship at the SalGo Team, I will be working on the Wytham Woods Digital Twin project. This interdisciplinary initiative combines ecology, artificial intelligence, robotics, computer vision, and environmental monitoring technologies to create a living digital representation of one of the world’s best-studied forests. My work will focus on developing and evaluating AI-assisted approaches for extracting ecological information from environmental sensing data, including imagery, LiDAR scans, and 3D digital reconstructions of forest ecosystems.
