I am a marine ecologist interested in the mechanisms that underpin demographic recovery and resilience, from individual behaviour to population and community dynamics. I take a broad cross-ecosystem outlook and a particular enthusiasm for Indo-Pacific coral reefs and Mediterranean macroalgal forests. My work spans larval physiology and dispersal behaviour, the role of moonlight in the timing of reproduction, long-term population dynamics following catastrophic disturbance and density-dependent bottlenecks that constrain early recovery.
I join the SalGo and MCEM teams to work on the ERC-funded project ResIntegrate, where I will address which taxa and life-history strategies prove most resilient and where in the world resilience is concentrated; how different types of disturbance interact; and why resilience varies among populations of the same species.
