Dr Rachael Thornley

Supervisors: Dr Rob Salguero-Gómez

I am a wildlife conservation practitioner, botanist, and ecologist, with ten years’ experience in UK nature reserve management. I completed my PhD in remote sensing of grasslands at the University of Reading in 2022 and joined the SalGo lab in spring 2024 to work on the NERC funded project ‘Integrating and predicting responses of natural systems to disturbances’.  Here I continue to explore the use of very high spatial resolution reflectance data in automation of plant community monitoring. These methods will be used to test theories of resilience within the global grassland experiments DRAGNet and RainDrop.
